Find your success rhythm

‘Daddy they finished the food’, I cried😭😭😭

A funny video made the rounds on social media featuring 3 friends eating hot noodles. One guy had only taken one scoop but sadly found the pot empty when he tried taking a second scoop.

My Dad saw the clip and told me how I suffered the same fate as a child while sharing a meal with my cousins. The adults realized the situation and bursted out laughing when I wailed, ‘Daddy, they finished the food’, 😭😭😭. They found it hilarious, calling me, ‘Lagos pikin’ 😂

The video (also shared below) is funny but beyond humour there are life & Business lessons in there-

Lesson 1: no matter how you are wired, life is competitive. Accept the challenge and Learn the rules.

◦ Lesson 2: Know thyself and Assess your competitors. Understand that everyone is simply trying to survive. Hold no grudge. Choose your battles, weapons and ‘opponents’ wisely. Have a backup plan.

◦ Lesson 3: Find what works for you and use it to adapt to each circumstance. Wake up, sit well, think, focus & work out creative solutions that favour you.

◦ Lesson 4: Life will not wait for you or create a soft landing because ‘You are You. Build your skills, push back. Find the success rhythm that works best, is ethical and profitable for you on the short, medium and long term.

Back to my childhood experience; Thankfully, my uncle had envisaged the food rush and kept food aside for me. I still do not eat fast, so I rarely share meals with others. My meal times are planned and the meals of good quality. The timing, venue and quality are important. I understand my rhythm and try to adapt.

When it comes to success factors as regards your personality and your business, do you have everything under control?

What may work for others may not work for you, including that JAPA plan of yours.

Are you even aware of what will work for you? Or you’re simply hustling, battling with the tide and falsely accusing your ‘village people’?

What extra success lessons can you draw from the video? Share this post and tag that friend born with fridge in their mouth 😂

  1. Very hilarious video. I had similar story growing up. I would be on a plate of food for hours, it irritated my dad so much. After several complaints from my dad for me to change and no improvement, he came up with the rule that anybody that finishes his meal should eat the other slow person’s food😳😳. You can imagine the tears. I would hug my food and cry when my younger siblings rally round me to eat my food. You would hear me say, “Daddy please na, i will be fast next time”. Each time i make this promise, each time i fail at keeping it. Up till date, i still eat very slow and seldom share food with people. I no fit cry ooo

    1. Awww ☺️ Daddy was trying to toughen you up because he understands the ruthless competition out in the world. While you still eat slow, are you fast with taking strategic decisions, catching and optimizing opportunities and relationships? These are critical skills to survive today’s world. Cheers to your beautiful future 🥰

  2. One of my biggest challenge as an entrepreneur is my good nature..But like you rightly mentioned one mustn’t turn evil to flow with the tide but rather device means of fitting into the competitive market which usually is best achieved by being the absolute best at what you do…that attracts potential clients or people to you and life certainly becomes less competitive cos your on a different level..banks have no business competing with thrift collectors…

    1. Your good nature can also become your USP and leveraged to attract new customers. I think I’ll write an article on how bad character kills Business. It would help you appreciate and market your good nature or make it work for you. 😉 Keep being good 😊
